Naming Notes | Akademos was an Attic hero who saved Athens by telling Helen of Troy's brothers where she was hidden. The goddess Athena used Akademos' home, Akademia, as a place for philosophers to think and discuss. It is believed to be the site of origin of Plato's Academy.Akademia's sacred groves was adorned with olive planations that provided the olive oil prize to the winners of the Panathenaic games. |
