Discovery NotesThe soil sample was originally taken in sub-freezing temperatures from 4 inches below the surface as soil for a potted plant. The soil was kept wet and at 18.3 degrees Celsius for two weeks before a lab sample was taken from the pot. Previous, to taking this sample were had very little luck in obtaining a phage from the freezing soil outside. It was only with incubated soil that a phage could be found.
Naming NotesIt was sample four in our trials out of seven, and Babel is the mythological origin of language, so now it will be the origin of my knowledge about bacteriophage!
