Discovery Notes | I collected the soil sample in the flower beds of the Litchfield Towers Patio at the University of Pittsburgh. The soil was on the dryer side but not too dry. The sample I collected was just a little under the top layer of the soil. And I think it had some organic matter in it from the decaying flower petals that would occasionally fall in. It was 73 degrees outside and the humidity was 91%. |
Naming Notes | There is no specific reason why I chose the name I did. Bubbles is a name I would give to a pet and 11 is my favorite number. |
Sequencing Information | |
Sequencing Complete? | No |
Genome length (bp) | Unknown |
Character of genome ends | Unknown |
Fasta file available? | No |
Characterization | |
Cluster | Unclustered |
Subcluster | -- |
Lysogeny Notes | Do not know lysogen for sure, attempted to do the Lysogen Testing protocol but did not get a chance to finish, however a mesa was formed so it is most likely a temperate phage but cannot confirm until protocol is finished. |
Annotating Institution | Unknown or unassigned |
Annotation Status | Not sequenced |
Plaque Notes | The morphology of the phage is unique in the sense that it does not produce plaque sizes that are all the same. It produced 3 different sizes of plaques which was consistent over multiple round of purification. The largest pf the plaques are about 4mm, the medium sized plaques are around 2.5mm and the smallest are about 1mm. The individually plaques are all clear in the center with a cloudiness around the edges, they have haloes. |
