Discovery NotesThe sample was taken from a flowerpot with the Flor del Desierto (Adenium obesum) plant at the entrance of the Facultad de Ciencias Químico Biológicas-Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa. It was humid and 3 to 5 centimeters deep.
Naming NotesCaftali is a combination of three words in Spanish: CAFé, aTArdeceres, and LImón (some pleasures of life). We consider that the combination is a representation of Mexico, and nothing better than the name of the phage represents its place of origin. Coffee (CAFé) is an important crop for Mexico; the beautiful sunsets (aTArdeceres) with a great variety of colors that we can admire in our country; and the lemon (LImón), with its acidic flavor widely consumed in Mexican cuisine.
