Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected on Sunday, the 15th of January, around 3:30 P.M. The temperature outside was approximately 35 degrees Fahrenheit (about 1.67 degrees Celsius). The area was very wet, due to rainfall throughout the previous day (Saturday the 14th). The soil was a dark shade of brown, due to dampness because of the rain. It was very coarse in texture. Nothing else was growing in the area that this soil was located. The coordinate points of the soil were 40*26'36" N, 79*57'9" W. The soil was stored in room temperature conditions.
Naming NotesThe phage sample was found outside of the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning, also known as "Cathy", which is the reason for naming the plaque "Cathy".
