Discovery NotesWhitley Carey, Nathan Crum, and Meghan Welsh.
Our soil sample was collected right outside the cathedral of learning. There are flowers, bush’s, and pavement around. The soil seemed to be very saturated and wet. There was also some moss growing in the soil and nearby. I did not have difficulty filtering the sample.
Naming NotesWe chose CathyLawn as the name for our phage because we found it outside of the Cathedral (aka Cathy) and the lawn part was a play on words. Cathy Lawn actually exists. This is where many students socialize and play games. Also lawn is a word we use often in lab when referring to a bacterial lawn.
