Discovery NotesSoil sample taken from flower bed next to entrance to a residential building on the Virginia Tech campus (fairly high traffic area). The soil sample was clay-like and very damp, and was taken from about 6 cm deep under a thick layer of mulch. The outdoor temperature at the time of collection was 27 degrees Celsius.
Naming NotesThe name was inspired by a character on Mario Kart that visually resembles the phage.
