Naming NotesClovis is an old French first name. Clovis the first was king of the Franks (a Germanic people) and later the first king of France in the Merovingian dynasty, to which the coat of arms of three toads on a shield is attributed. Since the target bacterium used was Microbacterium foliorum, which was originaly collected from grass in Germany, we made the connection with our research to name the phage. Finally, 23 refers to the year in which we found the phage, i.e. 2023.

Plaque NotesTwo plaque morphologies were consistently obtained even after three rounds of purification of turbid plaques: a mixture of small turbid plaques and clear ones, 1 mm in diameter.

When the plates were further incubated at 4°C for a week, we also observed that the plaque size increased, and a light halo became visible around them.
