Discovery Notes | I collected my sample from the garden area next to noodle and co. The location was pretty dry when I collected it. There were mulch and small flowers on top of any plant roots all around. The weather when the sample was collected was 78 degrees. The coordinates were the latitude of 40.4421 and longitude of -79.9567. The transport time was around 10 minutes to get to my room where it was at room temperature. The bag was transported in my hand. |
Naming Notes | The name of this phage came from the villain in Powderpuff Girls. |

Plaque Notes | Phages collected all found in soil samples in Oakland and infect the bacterial host Gordonia terrae 3612. They were plated with the Gordonia and 2X top agar and were incubated for 3 days at 37 °C. Plaques made from phage Cocomojo18 on this plate are all relatively small. The plaque sizes vary from around 1-2 millimeters. They all get (cloudy) around the outside indicating this might be a temperate phage.“Cocomojo18” is more likely a lysogenic lifecycle based on the plaque morphologies |
