Discovery NotesSample collected on 09/01/25 at around 5pm. temperature outside around 27*C. Dry, crumbly soil. Sample taken under 1-2” of matted dead/dry grass. Dug 2-3” with gloved hand. Used some topsoil that was directly under matted grass. Top was ever-so-slightly damp, preserved by the dead grass on top. Taken about 1 foot from a branch of the Indian Creek (this branch sometimes referred to as Little Indian Creek) while water level was low. This creek often floods far over the area where samples were gathered. Live organisms in and around the creek.
Naming Notes“Ringo” was inspired from the halo or “ring” that the phage has, and
Cowboy was added as a fun descriptor. Also similar to the cowboy named Rango from the movie Rango.

Plaque NotesPhage plaques are rather large, with plaque assays showing plaques around 2-3mm in diameter. Phage has a halo and is typically very clear. Sample originally had these big plaques as well as some small 1mm plaques, but CowboyRingo was purified to only the larger plaques.
