Discovery NotesTook sample 50 feet away from the lake on a ridge between two trails. I went 6 feet down to collect the sample that was semi-moist
Naming NotesWhen I moved from New Orleans to Lafayette, Colorado, I lived near Waneka Lake, where coyotes howled through the night. The soil sample I used for phage isolation came from Waneka Lake itself. To honor both the place and my family, I combined “Coy” from the coyotes, “ak” from Waneka, and “ian” from my son’s name, Cianán, to create the name Coyakian
