Discovery Notes | The samples were collected in a plastic vial and gloves were used to prevent contamination. The temperature outside was approximately 18 degrees C and the samples were collected at 9:45 am. The vials of the samples were then placed in a plastic bag and brought into the laboratory. The third sample was a soil sample taken by the Merrimack College Pond on the outside, where the soil and water are separated from each other by a wall. All samples were taken approximately 30 minutes before isolation. |

Plaque Notes | The size of this plaque was roughly 0.5cm, and about ten phages were clear and the rest were cloudy and had different sizes, meaning the plate overall had a heterogeneous mixture of plaques. The figure titled “Figure 2” below shows the one plate used, and the black dot on the picture is the exact plaque used for the following generation. This plate did not have any cloudy edges. The reasoning to choosing the plate labeled 10-1 was because the other two plates did not have any plaques. |
