Discovery NotesMy phage was found in a liquid environmental sample instead of a soil sample, it was found in a runoff
collection pond along a trail on the side of the mountain leading up to the grotto, the pond was clear
and still with very little algae growth on it, the depth was around 2 – 4 ft deep with a rocky bottom.
Naming NotesThis phage was named after the person who discovered it (me) first childhood pet who was a Black Lab
that loved water, and my phage was found in water, so I found that it was fitting to name this phage with
Dakota in it who loved water. I also think that phages have a similar shape to a lacrosse stick, and I played
lacrosse my whole life, so I added “lax” which is the nickname for lacrosse, and I also added my lacrosse
number this year, “43”.
