Discovery NotesThis phage was found outside of the Durfee Conservatory at UMass Amherst, near the side of the building. The area was grassy and the soil was frozen. The area is also not heavily trafficked.
Naming NotesOur lysate was named after the place it was found, the Durfee Conservatory. Because the name "Durfee" was already taken, we added "Smurfee" for a fun rhyme.
