Discovery NotesThis bacteriophage was obtained from a soil sample collected in a soil plot in front of the William Pitt Union at the University of Pittsburgh. The soil sample was collected on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 4:14PM. At the time of soil collection, the outside temperature was 40°F, there was overcast, and the soil was fairly soft and easy to collect.
Naming NotesThe name "EagleBeagle" is a combination of the Boy Scouts of America rank of Eagle Scout and of the dog breed beagle. I became an Eagle Scout on August 26, 2015 as part of Troop 3036 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. My family has had beagles as our pets for many years, with my mother having pet beagles since she was 4 years old, and with me having pet beagles since I was born.
