Discovery Notes | When combined and filtered with the enrichment broth, Jennipher was a very dark yellow color. This was different from all of the light yellow colors I had seen before. |
Naming Notes | I had originally collected 5 samples and named them all, even before they were isolated. Unfortunately, they were all duds. In my grief, I went out on campus and chose four more samples. I did not want to go through that kind of distress again, so I decided against naming any of them, except for one. After I had filtered my samples, I admired them. I really liked my second sample, it was different. All of a sudden, a name came over me. It was meant to be. Jennifer. I loved it. When it came time to officially name my phage, Jennifer just didn't seem unique enough. I am a lover and protector of puns, and I tried to concoct a clever pun using 'Jennifer,' but the best I could do was 'Jennipher.' Not wanting to give up her namesake, I stuck with it. It may not have been a perfect pun, but it was perfect for me and for her. |
