Soil sample #1 was collected in an urban environment, right outside the door to Clapp Hall at the University of Pittsburgh. Close to where this sample was taken from there is a sidewalk and a busy street with lots of traffic. The soil was a medium brown color and very dry.
Naming NotesOur group obtained this phage from another group in the same lab, so we chose to name the phage after a well-known immigrant; we decided on Jackie Chan.
