Discovery Notes | The soil sample was taken in the yard of a house situated on a heavily trafficked road. There are a couple of trees in the yard, but most of it is grass and asphalt. |
Naming Notes | The phage was named after Jonathan Jacobo who is the main antagonist of the 2004 film Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. Our group wanted a name that was unique, but easily identifiable. Our phage acted like a "monster unleashed" in the sense that is decimated the host bacteria! |

Plaque Notes | Most plaques have the same morphology, some have a smaller radius, but all are circular in shape. They present as rings, and are consistent in their presentation. The burst of the phage appears to leave a little bit of the host bacteria creating the ring effect that we described. The average radius of the plaques are 2 x 1 mm and the areas the phages were sampled from are translucent. |
