Discovery NotesThe phage was found in damp soil near the UMass Amherst campus pond, out in the open, and not under any foliage.
Naming NotesThe name we chose is Jawa Jaaw. This is an acronym of all of our names combined together (Jon, Ava, Will, Andrew). This is also a Star Wars reference, which Andrew was very excited about. We wanted to combine all of our names together because we love the dynamic of our team and each other as people. The name also gives each one of us credit for the hard work we will be doing in lab.
