Discovery NotesJimslays was first discovered on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The phage was collected via direct isolation from a soil sample that can be categorized as smooth and very cold. It is also significant to note that the soil was collected by a grassy area and was near the Berkshire Dining Commons.
Naming NotesThe name, Jimslays, combines one of our group members' desire to name our phage Jimbob, while also compromising the remainder of the group's suggestion of naming the phage "Slays". Slays is a common slang term used by Generation Z and can be viewed to categorize this phage based on the time in which it was collected. The compromise also represents our group's teamwork and the team dynamic and atmosphere necessary to produce adequate results.
