Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected in a flower bed near Posvar Hall at the University of Pittsburgh. The soil was moist and there was numerous shrubs and flowering plants in the flowerbed. There was enough plant life that it was an ideal area for bacterial and bacteriophage growth. The discovery came from a direct isolation of the soil.
Naming NotesThe name I chose came from the Hunger Games. Katnisss Everdeen's nickname was Katnip. The reason why I chose this name is because I am a huge fan of the Hunger Games and my friends refer to me as Katniss. I wanted to choose a name that related to me.
