| Discovery Notes | Environmental sample was taken from wrack water on August 31, ~8:30 am along the Elm river; including some foam, a little sludge and soil. A few snails along with some algae and microinvertebrates. A light, "airy", smelling of fresh river water sample which centrifuged quick and filtered easily. |
| Naming Notes | Author Jack Kerouac (On the R, Dharma bums)was the inspiration for naming this bacteriophage. Where this virus was isolated from felt similar to that of Kerouac's literary style: breathing, free, roaming, gurgle, pop of the river water at it's edges. Freedom & exploration - - - like jazz music; descriptions of the beat generation. |
