Discovery Notes | The soil sample was obtained from under some leaves that were located in a flowerbed outside of the Johnson Science Tower on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. It was a shady region under a bush, and the weather conditions for that day were warm and sunny. The soil was gathered from a depth of around a centimeter deep. |
Naming Notes | Our phage was named Kolya because we wanted to name it something in a different language. The name Kolya has a meaning of “victorious people.” |
