Discovery NotesVirus was found in soil in the shore of Lake Overholser. The soil temperature was 23°C. The soil had a large amount of red clay. The soil was wet but not saturated with water. The top dry soil was removed, and the next one-half inch of wet soil was collected. The sample was collected at 7:36 a.m. on 8/28/2018.
Naming NotesLacus is Latin for lake and litore is Latin for shore. Because the sample was collected from a lake shore, we named the virus Lacus Litore.
