| Discovery Notes | Found a cemented in area of soil (supposed to be a flower bed) on the corner of Forbes Avenue and South Bouquet Street in front of the Barcow Law Building on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus along the sidewalks around 3:45 PM on January 9th, 2016. There were very few plants budding in the flowerbed and with the moist environment from the rain that previous night, it could be a sufficient place for bacteria, and even phages, to grow. |
| Naming Notes | After a great actor, Nicholas Cage. He starred in a movie titled "Frozen Ground" in 2013, which is what I had to dig through to collect soil samples this winter semester. It was a "National Treasure" when I finally found a phage. |

| Plaque Notes | It was fairly obvious I had a phage from the results of my spot test after enriching my soil with the huge clearing in the middle of the plate. While serial diluting, I found multiple sized plaques, so I am currently working on purifying my plaque to only one species. Results to follow. |
