Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected on September 15, 2025, from a shaded area near a maple tree located behind the science building at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The soil was dark, slightly moist, and contained fine roots. The weather was cool and cloudy. The sample was collected from about 3 cm below the surface.
