Discovery NotesThe sample was taken from Massacre Rocks State Park. Sample was picked at 1PM on 9/1/2025. The weather was hot, around 84 degrees F. It wasn't windy, but it held a decent, occasional breeze. The sample was taken from the edge of Lake Walcott, just before where the shoreline turned from grass clumps and dirt/sand into sharp lakeside rocks. The sample was taken from a group/tufts of grass. The earth furthest from the water (and a bit from this sample) was parched and dust-like. The earth taken with this sample was a mix of dry and wet areas. Once dug up, the sample was placed in a clear plastic bag, with the sample itself being earth, grass (the main shoot, tiller, and crown), and the grass's roots. The grasses varied from a lighter green to a deep green to a pale yellow-green in color. The leaves were all a healthy deep green. The sample was dug up at a relatively superficial level. There were two decently sized dead fish floating close to the shore by the collection site.
Naming NotesIt was originally going to be named Star-Point. The star part is being referenced from the clear center of the plaque. However, that was taken up already.

So instead, it was named Mori Punctum. Which is Latin for "dying/dead point." This name is meant to connect to the location where the sample was collected: Massacre Rocks.

Plaque NotesPlaque is overall pinpoint (the clear part), with the cloudy part varying. With a clear circular center and a cloudy outer ring/circle around the clear center. Small or medium in size. Looks "bulls-eye" like.

The size of the cloudy part and the clearness of the center can depend on the amount of time the plaque was able to develop.
