Discovery NotesMundia was taken from an open area, near the Integrated Learning Center at UMass Amherst. The soil was near melted snow and was moist.
Naming NotesSince we collected the phage from soil, we wanted to name the phage after where it was found. We looked up what earth/world meant in different languages and saw Mundia meant world in Portuguese. We thought it'd be a fitting name and decided to name our phage Mundia from there on.
