Discovery NotesThe soil sample, containing Philomena, was collected from a potted plant near a window in an apartment at 356 S Aiken Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. The soil was collected in the morning and the temperature outside was 16 degrees Fahrenheit and the inside was set at 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The area in which the soil was collected had direct access to sunlight. The sample remained in a cool, dark space for 3 days before testing began.
Naming NotesThe name was inspired by my own grandmother, Philomena. In the quest for finding a phage, I had trouble obtaining one. My grandmother faced many challenges in life being an Italian woman who tried to make a living and a name for herself and her family.
