| Discovery Notes | Soil was collected behind Tommy's family's restaurant. The soil was frozen; organic matter present in the soil(twigs/leaves). The soil was extremely watery/muddy. After finding Phage Gekyume(direct)on M.smegmatis, the soil was enriched with in a "cocktail" of 6 hosts and plated on individual lawns of different hosts. One host, Gordonia, was infected by this enrichment solution. The phage was purified by Meg Kenna. |
