| Discovery Notes | Sandy soil on the banks of the pond called Lac du Mail. The weather was cloudy, the sampling area was rather damp, and there was dew on the leaves nearby. |
| Naming Notes | We decided to name our phage Taotie because it is the name of a creature from Chinese mythology that is known for its voracity and is often referred to as a “glutton.” Taotie devours everything in its path indiscriminately, just like phages that devour and exploit everything in their host cell. |
