Discovery NotesSandy soil on the banks of the pond called Lac du Mail. The weather was cloudy, the sampling area
was rather damp, and there was dew on the leaves nearby.
Naming NotesWe decided to name our phage Taotie because it is the name of a creature from Chinese mythology that is known for its voracity and is often referred to as a “glutton.” Taotie devours everything in its path indiscriminately, just like phages that devour and exploit everything in their host cell.
