Discovery NotesTeeSquared originally came from another student's plate, labeled “PP 10-2 9/21 AT."
Naming NotesTiffany Stocks and Tabitha Swenson were randomly assigned lab partners on the first day of BIO 160. Unknowingly, they both have the same initials, "TS." When labeling agar plates one day, Dr. J. Alfred Bonilla referred to the pair of girls as TS^2. The girls were fond of their new-found name and decided to name the phage after their initials when they noticed little twin phages in one area of their Electron microscope images. Hence, the name "TeeSquared."
