Discovery NotesTilly was discovered when Dilly's EM picture was described as having two phages, one with long tails and one with short tails.

Naming NotesTilly was first referred to as Dilly2 when it was first discovered. Dilly ended up being two phages, one with short tails and one with long tails, so purification tests were done to separate these two phages. The name Tilly was given to the phages with the long tails.
