Discovery NotesThis phage was discovered in soil, which was found beside a steam vent near a walkway. Because of this, the soil was warm, and there was little to no plant life other than some grass in the area. The soil was slightly gravelly, and almost sandy. There were multiple buildings in the area that the soil was found.
Naming NotesThis plaque is named TinyTillie after the popular book character, the Little Engine That Could. This is because there was only one plaque that was very small on the original isolation plate. Though there were multiple challenges faced in the discovery of this phage, one has been isolated, purified, and otherwise "discovered". This name reflects the discovery of the phage.
