Discovery Notes | I collected this sample from a flowerbed outside of my residence hall, McCormick Hall, at the University of Pittsburgh. The sample was dark, damp, and a mixture of soil and mulch. The soil sample was collected at 9:41 pm, so it was relatively late at night. There was a light breeze and the temperature was moderate. The sample was contained in a plastic ziplock bag and was refrigerated overnight. |
Naming Notes | I named the phage Trio because I am one of three kids and we tend to refer to ourselves as a trio. |

Plaque Notes | The typical plaques are very small and numerous. They have been measured to be 1-2 mm. The shapes of each of the plaques are imperfectly circular and the size varies slightly from plaque to plaque. This similar shape and size indicates to me that all the plaques are made by the same phage. |
