Discovery Notes | The soil was taken on 1/26/2015 at 9:30 pm. The temperature was approximately 43 degrees Fahrenheit. The sample soil was taken 2 inches below the top of the soil, which was moist when I dug it up. There are not very many houses on that road because it is a residential road and the houses in the area are huge and have a lot of extra ground mainly populated by trees. There is some foot traffic down that road, one older woman who takes a power walk every day around 5 and an older man who walks his dad through the area, but the part of the road where I got the sample typically does not see a lot of people, only cars.Wildlife in the area consists of a rafter of turkeys that infrequently crosses the road, squirrels, birds and dogs that are not kept on leashes. |
Naming Notes | The name "Wheelbite" comes from a term used by longboarders to describe when your deck comes in contact with one or more of your wheels and stops abruptly. It typically happens with a new set-up that has not yet been "dialed in". I picked this name because the only reason I knew of this road's existence was because the longboard club I joined last semester took me there to shred one day. Without them I would never have discovered this Phage. |
