Discovery Notes | Collected 9-11-12. Air temperature 63?F. Sample taken from just beneath the surface of a gravely area in Downtown Pullman. Soil was by a path and manmade waterfall. Ground was moist. |
Naming Notes | I first nicknamed my phage "falls" because I found them near a manmade waterfall. One day in lab I accidentally froze my spot test. I panicked and redid the spot test, but I also put the frozen spot test in the incubator, just in case. I thought if the frozen plate produced plaques, it would be a wonder phage. Plaques grew and I was very proud, so they're my wonder plaques. Wonder Falls was also the name of an obscure TV show my mother and I used to watch, so it is partially an homage. I think the name fits. |

Plaque Notes | My morphology changed from the medium titer lysate to the high titer lysate. My plaques are round and clear. They produce both large and small plaques. At first they just have shadows of halos, but if you leave them out they grow to bullseyes. After the high titer lysate they no longer grew halos. |
