Discovery NotesThe phage was collected from a deposit of sandy loam located beneath shrubbery lining a local road. This area of town is rural, abundant in flora, and has several ponds.
Naming NotesPlates treated with the phage have clear bacterial lawns, except for tiny 'plaques' of a mutant strain of the host bacteria, which is the product of phage-resistant genes and a specific formula of PYCa media. Because Microbacterium foliorum presents with a yellow hue, the plate looks as if it has yellow freckles.
