Discovery NotesThis phage was extracted from a sample of soil on edge of the Umass Amherst Campus pond. The soil was moist, muddy, and had a slight green film on top.
Naming NotesOur group member Jacob Young was the one who collected the soil sample that yielded our phage, so we decided to name it after his last name. We also wanted to name it "Young" because it is a newly discovered phage.
