The sample was collected from an outdoor garden bed on the University of Pittsburgh “Plant2Pitt” garden on campus. There were remnants of dead plants still in the bed and soil, and in the beds surrounding it as well. The soil was very dry, and also full of wood chips and other dead plant matter (grass, twigs/sticks, crops, roots, etc.)
Naming NotesYuJeon (“yoo-juhn") is based off of the Korean word for “gene” (유전자: “yoo-juhn-ja”).
