Discovery NotesThe soil sample was collected at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, USA outside of the 53,000-square-foot Glaske Center for Engineering, Science, and Technology building on 23rd August 2022 around 5:00 p.m. CST. The ambient temperature was 28.3 °C and the weather was mostly cloudy. The soil was moist because it had rained the night before, about 2.05 in.
Naming NotesThe former name of our phage was JAST16, that was derived by taking the first name initials of each member of our research team, and 16 for our sample number allocated by the instructor during the enrichment isolation process of various phages. However, the “JAST16” name was not accepted, so we changed it to Glaske16. Since the sample was collected in front of the Glaske building and 16 was our sample number, we decided to rename it as Glaske16.

Plaque NotesThe phage exhibited clear plaques with the average diameter of 1.7 mm (range 1.0 - 2.0 mm, n= 3). The average distance between plaques picked during the phage purification process was 1. 5cm. The plaques were generally round and uniform across the entire plate.
