Discovery NotesI obtained my soil sample from a patch of grass by Benedictine University's parking lot. It had slightly drizzled the day of so the soil was still moist and damp. I chose this location because there is a lot of animal activity by that specific patch of grass where I had observed multiple types of animals live, which prompted me to believe that it would be a prime location where bacteria would reside in. I used a decent-sized spoon to scoop out the soil, I dug about 6 inches deep because there were a few woodchips and small pebbles on the topsoil, and acquired my soil sample. My soil had a very dark brown tint to it and was moist and felt fresh.
Naming NotesI chose to name my phage Drose because it is the name of my favorite athlete who declined in his sport because of injuries and diseases. I thought, to pay homage to my favorite athlete, why not name my phage Drose.

Plaque NotesThe plaques that phage Drose formed were 3mm with a radius of 1.5mm. The plaques formed had a clear center with sharp edges. Through many trial and errors, clear centered and uncontaminated plaques formed which were majority 3mm. The plaques turned out to be lytic during the entire lab process.
