Discovery NotesThis sample was collected on the shore of Evergreen Lake, a large body of water with great potential for holding a wide variety of organisms. The collection site I chose was down a steep, grassy bank that dropped off over a small ledge onto the sandy soil of the shoreline. I grabbed chunks of the wet, sandy loam under the overhanging ledge, among the roots of a small willow tree.
Naming NotesI chose Mortimer because I like the name and find it amusing. It sounds like an old, forgetful character--and I nearly forgot to collect this sample in time. Therefore, it is Mortimer.
