Discovery Notes | Phage BRock was isolated from rich compost with Streptomyces sp. SFB5A (Streptomyces nymphaeiformis) as the host. This streptomycete is a polyhydroxybutyrate-degrading bacterium isolated from decaying mulch; its closest relatives by 16S rDNA sequencing analysis are Streptomyces vietnamensis, Streptomyces tanashiensis, Streptomyces litmocidini, and Streptomyces nashvillensis. |
Naming Notes | BRock stands for "Baron Rocks". This means that Ashley really admires her teacher! |
