Discovery NotesHiro was isolated from a sample collected in the Boston area (90 Brainerd Road, Boston, MA 02134, USA). The sample was gathered and shipped to me by FGCU alumni, Michaela Smith.
Naming NotesHiro got its name from my favorite character on the television series, Heroes. The meaning of the name literally translates to "prosperous." I named my phage accordingly because although I failed nearly 30 times before finding Hiro, I ended up with one of the most sturdy lytic phage found within the class.
