Discovery NotesAs the name suggests, Wrackline was isolated from a sample of sand taken above the wrack line of Willard beach - where sand, kelp, and other debris just touch with the grass.
Naming NotesThe wrack line is the trail of debris that is formed at high tide and left behind as it recedes. This phage was found just above the wrack line and, as SMCC enjoys working with marine phage, it seemed fitting to name it about some ocean phenomena. I'd also like to give our lab manager her due credit for she suggested the name - I simply affirmed it.

Plaque NotesWrackline forms plaques 0.5mm diameter on average although they have been observed to fluctuate in size. Interestingly, the plaques it forms are often surrounded by a halo - radiating about 0.3mm outward from the edge of the plaque. There is often a very faint ring of bacteria in the center of the plaque that looks very much like a bull's eye.
