Discovery NotesI obtained a soil sample from moist grass at GPS coordinates 38.20882 N, 85.75387 W in Louisville, Kentucky. I took the sample from about 4 inches below the surface. The sample was dark brown and moist, with an earthy smell.
Naming NotesThis is French for "destructor".

Plaque NotesWe completed the enriched isolation by filtering the culture through a 0.22mm filter. We then spread the Streptomyces culture over the entire plate. For the negative control, 3uL of phage buffer was spotted onto one half of the plate. On the other half, 3uL of the filtered sample was spotted on the other division. After two day incubation, a region of clearing was observed on the section spread with the filtered sample (Figure 1B). The negative control or section spotted with phage buffer did not have a region of clearing indicating that the sample is accurate and has phage. These results suggest that the sample contained phage that can infect Streptomyces griseus.
