Discovery NotesThis was a dirt sample collected on August 26, 2025. It was 66°F that day, and it was cloudy with winds up to 15 mph. It was found in front of Jordan Hall at NC State. I collected just the top inch of the soil. It was in a very rocky area, so I had to move the layer of rocks to get to the soil. The soil was dry with little debris, and it was not dense.
Naming NotesI was scrolling on TikTok and saw a video of a labubu getting its nails done. I liked the video and then the rest of the videos on my For You page were labubus getting their nails done. I then saw a video of a lafufu (a fake labubu), and I realized I could do a play on words and change the "f" into "ph". The 24k comes from a viral video of a woman who has the only 24k gold labubu in the world.
