Discovery Notes | The soil was dug up behind an old fishing store that would regularly dump organic waste in the same spot for 50 years, creating a lush little grove behind the store. The temperature was 46 degrees Fahrenheit when it was collected. |
Naming Notes | The old fishing store that dumped the organic waste into the little grove raised their own minnows. So when some died, plus the waste left by the fish that were sold would be dumped into the small grove behind the store for 50 years, making the soil more and more fertile over time. So I looked up what the scientific name of Minnow was and it is Phoxinus. So I came up with the name Necrophoxinus, which means Dead Minnow. |

Plaque Notes | Our phage that we singled out is a medium phage that has a halo and that we believe it has a lytic cycle. This is because of the size of the plaque and that they are clear. We also believe that there is only one kind of phage due to the uniform morphology of the plaques. |
