Discovery NotesSoil was collected on 08/19/2025 at approximately 6:00-6:30 pm at Pilot Knoll Park, with the approximate coordinates of (33.1061993, -97.0705071). The temperature was approximately 91°F with little to no cloud coverage. Soil was collected at first with a biodegradable plastic spoon, then with a steel pocket knife, then with a nail filer of a multipurpose pocket tool. The excavation site left behind a circular hole, measuring ~3 1/8 inches in circumference and ~1 inch deep. Soil was then scooped by the biodegradable plastic spoon into a plastic bag. About 1/6 of the bag was filled before dropping the spoon into the bag. Soil was very dry and consisted of mainly clay and gravel, with minimal organic material.
Naming NotesDitters was named after the classical violin player Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf, where many of his concertos were transposed into double bass concertos.
